Loretta Adrian, president of Coastline College in California, was recently honored with the Outstanding President Award from the California Community College Council for Staff and Organizational Development. The award is presented to a president/chancellor in the California community college system to recognize excellence in leadership in staff and organizational development. Adrian was nominated and selected based on her strong commitment to professional development for the staff and faculty at Coastline, as exemplified by the Leadership Innovating Together for Tomorrow and the Faculty Center for Innovation and Excellence programs.
Becky Duckett, director of international programs and the Alabama Language Institute at Gadsden State Community College in Alabama, will participate in a development seminar in Pakistan June 8-22 thanks to a program award from the Council of American Overseas Research Centers. The seminar will include first-hand experiences of various cultural sites and practices in Lahore, as well as meetings with local scholars, artists and others. Participants are required to integrate global awareness into their teachings as a means of preparing local students for global citizenship.
Appointments
At Compton College in California, Janet Baghoomian is the new associate dean of nursing, César Jimenez is the new dean of counseling and guided pathways, and Andree Pacheco is now director of student development and athletics. Previously, Baghoomian was assistant director of the associate degree in nursing program at California Career College and interim director of the online bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing programs at Stanbridge University in Irvine, California. Jimenez previously served as associate dean of counseling and student services at El Camino College. Pacheco has served as interim director of student development and athletics since December. Prior to that he worked as the baseball operations administrator for the Major League Baseball Youth Academy and served as operations supervisor of student activities at California State University, Northridge.
Rebeccah Goldware is now vice chancellor of institutional advancement and economic development at the Riverside Community College District in California. She previously she served as chief of staff for research and economic development at the University of California, Riverside.
Kevin McFry is the new dean of financial and administrative services at Gadsden State Community College in Alabama. He comes from Jacksonville State University, where he has worked since 1998 in a variety of positions including bursar, financial systems manager, assistant controller and most recently controller.
Wayne Willcox is now chief of police at Savannah Technical College in Georgia. Previously, he was director of special programs in the Center for Applied Cyber Education at Armstrong State University/Georgia Southern University.
