CEOs on the move
Gena Glickman will serve as the sixth president of Massasoit Community College in Massachusetts. Previously, she was president of Manchester Community College in Connecticut for 10 years. Prior posts that Glickman has held over her career include: vice president for teaching, learning and student development at Elgin Community College in Illinois; associate provost and assistant provost at the University of Baltimore; dean at the Maryland College of Art and Design; executive director for curriculum development and evaluation at Harford Community College; and assistant to the vice president for academic affairs at Baltimore City Community College.
Thomas M. Huebner, Jr., has been named president of Meridian Community College in Mississippi, effective July 1. He previously served for three years as president of East Mississippi Community College. Huebner also was dean of student services at Shelton State Community College (Alabama) for five years and interim president of Bevill State Community College (Alabama) from April 2014 to January 2015. Prior to that, Huebner was vice president at Carson-Newman University in Tennessee.
Appointments
James Brown is now dean of social science and education at Volunteer State Community College in Tennessee. For the past 10 years Brown has served as an assistant professor of criminal justice at the college. He retired from the Los Angeles Police Department in 2006 after 33 years as an officer and detective.
Sachi Horback will serve as vice president of instruction at Clark College in Washington, effective July 2. She is currently district dean for business and social sciences at Pierce College. Horback has more than 15 years of experience in higher education both as a tenured faculty member in psychology and as an administrator, with experience in outcomes assessment, e-learning and professional development.
Casey O’Brien has been appointed assistant dean of planning and institutional effectiveness at Columbia-Greene Community College (New York). O’Brien previously served as the college’s director of institutional effectiveness.
Kudos
Cindy Allen, vice president of administration and talent development at Jackson College in Michigan, has received the 2018 Michigan American Council on Education (ACE) Women’s Network Distinguished Women in Higher Education Award. She was instrumental in the founding of a campus health clinic and spearheaded the creation of the college’s Oasis Center, which provides behavioral health services.
